Okay*ish helps you laugh it off and put it down, in under two minutes.
How It Works
The whole thing takes less time than replaying the situation in your head for the fourth time.
Type it in your own words. Just enough to get it out of your head. Okay*ish never keeps what you type.
You get three takes on your moment, written for it, not pulled from a template. Swipe right if one lands, left for meh. Every swipe teaches Okay*ish a little more about what makes you laugh.
Grab a one-liner or a song for the road if you want one. Then that's it. No ongoing tasks. No check-ins. Just a moment that doesn't have to own the rest of your day.
Features
Built around your moment, not a template. Whatever's in it is for you, right now. Not generic. Not something that would work for anyone. Something that's actually for you.
Every time something lands, Okay*ish learns something. Over time it gets sharper about what works for you and stops offering things that don't. The longer you use it, the more it feels tuned to you.
The meeting that went sideways. The comment you can't stop replaying. The low-grade annoyance you can't quite shake. The day that's just a lot. If it's taking up space in your head, Okay*ish is for it.
Okay*ish never keeps what you type. Your words are used to write your kit, then they're gone. It only remembers which responses made you laugh, never what you said.
One input. Instant output. The whole thing takes under two minutes. Built for the moment something happens, not for when you've already moved on.
No daily check-ins. No streaks to maintain. No reminders asking how you're doing. Okay*ish is there when something actually happens, and quiet the rest of the time.
When your coworker got credit for your idea and you have to sit next to them in a meeting about it tomorrow.
When the person who upset you is also the person you're going home to tonight.
When you've already talked about this with your friend too many times and you can see them getting tired of it.
When you can't lose it on your teenager even though you really, really want to.
When your therapist is great but your appointment is in 11 days.
That's what the llama is for.
Say the part you'd never say out loud. The llama won't tell anyone. Mostly because it's a llama.
Privacy
Your words are yours. Okay*ish uses them to write your kit, and then they're gone. Not saved on our servers. Not saved on your phone. Not summarized. Not tied to your account. What Okay*ish remembers is what made you laugh, kept as numbers, not a story. Not why. Not what led up to it. Just the signal that something landed.
One honest note: the AI company that writes your kit may hold onto a request for up to 30 days for safety checks, then deletes it. We never send it anything that says who you are, and it doesn't use your words to train its AI.
Used to write your kit, then gone. No history, no diary of your bad days.
We learn what humor lands for you, never the story behind it. Sign in and those scores follow you to a new phone.
No ad trackers. Your information is never sold or used to target you.
If you tap Share feedback, we keep what you send so we can read it and reply. Never your kit, and never what you typed.
Why It Works
Three things happen when you use Okay*ish. None of them require you to believe in anything.
When you put something into words, it shifts from something happening to you to something you're describing. Psychologists call this affect labeling. You probably call it getting it out of your head. Both are right. Either way, something loosens.
The situation doesn't change. But the way you're holding it can. Okay*ish offers a fresh way to look at what happened. Not to convince you of anything, just to give you somewhere else to stand for a second. That's usually enough.
Here's something most people don't know: the physiological peak of an emotional response lasts roughly 60 to 90 seconds. After that, you're mostly just re-triggering it. By the time you've read your kit, that window has usually passed. You didn't suppress anything. The moment just ran its course.

The Science
Okay*ish is built on a well-established body of research into how changing the way we interpret a situation changes how we feel about it.
Affect Labeling
Writing down what happened isn't just venting. Research found that labeling emotions with words measurably reduces activity in the amygdala, creating an immediate calming effect on emotional intensity, even without any deliberate effort to regulate.
Read the study →Cognitive Reappraisal
This PMC study found that cognitive reappraisal specifically targets the appraisal stage, making it highly effective for in-the-moment emotional regulation, with longer-lasting effects than attention-based strategies.
Read the study →Humor and Coping
Research on humor as a coping mechanism shows it operates through the same cognitive pathway as reappraisal, creating psychological distance from a stressor without requiring deliberate effort. Humor isn't avoidance; it's a well-studied route to a lighter frame.
Read the study →Emotional Timing
Affect labeling works as implicit emotion regulation, meaning the brief act of putting a difficult moment into words can interrupt the escalation cycle before it compounds. The window for intervention is short, and early engagement makes a measurable difference.
Read the study →Neuroimaging
Reappraisal recruits frontal and parietal control regions to modulate emotional responding in the amygdala, a well-replicated mechanism across 48 neuroimaging studies reviewed in this meta-analysis.
Read the study →AI-Assisted Reappraisal
Research from arXiv demonstrates that LLMs can deliver clinically grounded cognitive reappraisals when structured appropriately. This is the mechanism Okay*ish is built on, with the addition of personalized humor calibration, structured session design, and privacy-first architecture that general AI tools don't offer.
Read the paper →How It Fits Your Practice
Okay*ish is designed to complement professional care, giving clients a structured way to work with difficult moments as they happen rather than waiting until they can articulate them in session.
Clients can use Okay*ish during the week when something comes up and they can't reach you.
The reframe kits apply the same cognitive restructuring principles central to CBT, DBT, and psychodynamic approaches.
Okay*ish does not diagnose or provide treatment. If a moment looks serious, it shows crisis resources instead of jokes. It is not a replacement for your care.
Okay*ish never keeps what clients type. You receive no data. There is no clinical record created.
No lengthy onboarding. Clients can be using it within minutes of your referral.
Send them a link and they can get started in minutes. Nothing to configure on your end, no data comes back to you.
Okay*ish gives your team a private, on-demand resource for the moments that derail focus and productivity, without the overhead of an EAP nobody calls.
That's 21 minutes of productivity back. Per person. Per disruption.
Why It Works
Most workplace wellness benefits go unused because they're either too clinical, too time-consuming, or feel like something HR will see. Okay*ish solves all three.
A two-minute session during lunch is realistic. A 45-minute EAP call when you're swamped is not. Okay*ish is built for the former.
No one at your company sees usage data, session content, or individual activity. Not HR, not management. And what people type isn't kept, so even we can't read it. This is what makes people actually use it.
Every unprocessed hard moment is lost focus. Okay*ish gives employees a quick, private way to work through it and get back to their day.
Okay*ish doesn't require an onboarding program, manager training, or ongoing administration. Deploy it and let people find it when they need it.
Offering Okay*ish signals that your company takes emotional wellbeing seriously, without requiring people to raise their hand and ask for help.
Okay*ish is not a replacement for professional mental health support. It's the first line, the thing you reach for before things escalate.

Okay*ish
Each section has a legal version and a plain-language version. Both say the same thing. If they ever seem to differ, the legal version is the one that applies.
Legal version Purpose and Scope This Privacy Policy describes how Larian Group Inc., a corporation based in Ontario, Canada ("Larian," "we," "us," or "our"), collects, uses, discloses, and protects information in connection with the Okay*ish mobile application and related services (the "App"). The App provides AI-generated comedic reframing of everyday moments. It is designed on a data-minimization principle: the text you enter describing your situation ("Your Words") is used only to generate your response and is not stored by us in any database, server log, analytics system, crash report, or on your device. This policy applies to all users of the App, on any platform or device. It should be read together with our Terms and Conditions. | Plain language The Short Version Okay*ish helps you get through a hard moment by finding the funny side of it. We built it with one firm rule: We never keep what you type. Your words are used to write your kit, then they're gone from Okay*ish. Nothing you type is ever tied to your account. The only thing we remember is what makes you laugh, and even that is kept as numbers, not a story. There is one honest exception, and we explain it in Section 4: the AI company that writes your kit may hold onto a request for a short time for safety checks. We would rather tell you that up front than make a promise we can't fully keep. |
Legal version Categories of Information We collect and store only the following categories of information: Preference Totals: Running totals that record which reframe lenses and comedic styles have worked for you, grouped by broad situation type. Situation types and styles are stored as numeric codes, not words. We do not keep a record of individual visits, the time or day of your visits, or any text. Preference totals are stored on your device, and a synchronized copy is stored on our servers under a randomly generated identifier, separate from your email address. Settings: The voice setting (such as Friendly, Snarky, or Unfiltered) and boldness level you choose. Usage Count: The number of free uses you have used, linked to a randomly generated identifier, so we can apply the free-use limit described in our Terms. Account Information (optional): Signing in is optional. If you create an account, we collect the email address associated with your chosen sign-in method. If you use Sign in with Apple, this may be a private relay address provided by Apple. Subscription Information: If you subscribe, payment is handled by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We receive your subscription status, the plan purchased, and renewal and expiry dates. We never receive your card or bank details. Feedback You Choose to Send: If you send feedback from within the App, we receive the information described in Section 5. Support Correspondence: If you email us, we receive your email address and whatever you include in your message. Technical Information: Our servers and service providers process limited technical information needed to deliver the App and keep it secure, such as IP address, device type, operating system, and app version. This information is never combined with Your Words. | Plain language What We Actually Keep Think of it like a barista who remembers you like oat milk but has no idea what you talked about on the phone while waiting in line. We know your taste. We don't know your story. Here is the whole list: Your style scores: Numbers that say things like "for situation type 3, the dry style worked most of the time." Even the situation type is a number, not a word. These live on your phone, with a backup copy on our servers so they can follow you to a new phone. The backup is filed under a random ID, not your name or email. Your settings: Which voice you picked and how bold you like it. How many free uses you've had: So the app knows when your free uses are done. Your email, if you sign up: Signing up is optional. Your email is for logging in and nothing else. Your subscription status: Whether you're subscribed and when it renews. Apple or Google handle the payment. We never see your card. Anything you choose to send us: Feedback you send from the app, or an email to support. Basic technical details: Like what kind of phone you have, so the app works and stays secure. Never connected to what you type. There is nothing in any of this that says what actually happened in your day. |
Legal version Excluded Data Categories The following information is excluded from collection, storage, logging, or any other form of persistence by Larian: Your Words: The text you enter is held in memory only for the duration of the request needed to generate your response. It is not written to any database, file system, cache, server log, analytics event, error or crash report, or to storage on your device, and it is never linked to your account or identifier. Generated Kit Content: Reframes, one-liners, song suggestions, and related text generated for you are not saved to our servers or to your device, and are never included in feedback you send. We do not keep a history of your kits. Summaries or Derivatives: We do not create or retain summaries, paraphrases, keywords, or semantic representations of Your Words. The only derived data retained is the numeric situation-type code added to your Preference Totals. Inferences: We do not store inferences about your emotional state, mental health, relationships, employment, or any other personal circumstance. Advertising and Tracking: The App contains no advertising and no third-party advertising or cross-app tracking tools. We do not sell or rent personal information and do not share it for advertising purposes. Device Data: We do not access your location, contacts, photos, microphone, or camera. Your Device's Keyboard: Text you type is entered through your device's keyboard, which is provided by your operating system or by a third-party keyboard you have installed. The keyboard is not part of the App. Your operating system's keyboard may learn words you type to improve autocorrect and suggestions, and third-party keyboards may collect what you type under their own privacy policies. These practices are outside our control. You can manage them in your device settings. | Plain language What We Will Never Know About You Whatever you type into Okay*ish is used to write your kit and then it's gone from Okay*ish. Not saved on our servers. Not saved on your phone. Not summarized. Not tied to your account. Your kit isn't saved either. There's no history screen and no diary of your bad days. We don't keep notes about your boss, your argument, or your 3 a.m. spiral, not even a watered-down version. No ads. No ad trackers. We don't sell your information to anyone, ever. We don't ask for your location, your contacts, your photos, your camera, or your microphone. Okay*ish doesn't need them. About your keyboard: Your phone's keyboard isn't part of Okay*ish. Like in any app, your phone's built-in keyboard may learn words you use so autocorrect works better. If you've installed a different keyboard app, that company has its own privacy rules. We can't control either one, but you can change keyboard settings on your phone anytime. If someone looked at everything we have about you, they would see some numbers about what style lands for you, your settings, and maybe your email. That's it. |
Legal version Processing Architecture Generating Your Kit: When you submit Your Words, the App sends them through our server to our AI service provider, OpenAI, together with your style preferences expressed in plain words for that single request. No account identifier, email address, name, or device identifier is included in the request. Classification and Safety: As part of the same request, the AI provider assigns your situation a weight (everyday, heavy, or crisis) and a broad situation type, and generates your response. A second automated check reviews the response before it is shown to you. Where a situation is classified as a possible crisis, the App displays crisis resources instead of a comedic response. Learning Signals: Only deliberate actions you take on a kit (such as keeping or passing on a piece, or copying a one-liner) update your Preference Totals. Inaction, closing the App, or starting a new moment is never recorded as a signal. Heavy and crisis moments do not generate signals. AI Provider Retention: OpenAI processes Your Words to generate your response under its API data terms. Under those terms, OpenAI does not use API content to train its models by default, and may retain API requests for up to thirty (30) days for abuse and misuse monitoring before deletion, unless longer retention is required by law. This retention is outside our control. Requests are not linked to your identity by us. We will update this policy if a zero-retention arrangement is put in place. Service Providers: We use the following categories of service providers, each bound by contractual confidentiality and data protection obligations: OpenAI (AI generation, United States); Supabase (account, preference backup, usage count, and feedback storage, hosted in Canada); RevenueCat (subscription status, United States); Apple and Google (app distribution, sign-in, and payment); and email and hosting providers needed to operate the App and support. We may also disclose information where required by law, to protect the rights or safety of any person, or in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets, in which case this policy will continue to apply to the information transferred. | Plain language What Happens When You Use the App Here is the full life of what you type, step by step: 1. You type what happened: The app sends it through our server to OpenAI, the AI company that writes your kit. Along with it goes a short note about the style you like. Nothing that identifies you goes with it. No email, no name, no account ID. 2. The AI writes your kit: It also figures out how heavy the moment is and the general type of situation. If it looks like you might be in danger, you'll see crisis support info instead of jokes. A second check reads the kit before you see it, to catch anything mean. 3. You react, if you want to: Keeping a piece, passing on one, or copying a one-liner teaches the app what works for you. Doing nothing teaches it nothing. Closing the app is never counted as "that helped" or "that didn't." 4. Your words are gone from Okay*ish: We don't keep them. The honest part: OpenAI may keep a request for up to 30 days to check for abuse, then delete it. They don't use it to train their AI, and they don't know who you are, because we don't send them anything that identifies you. We're working on removing even this, and we'll update this policy if we do. The companies that help us run the app: OpenAI writes the kits. Supabase stores the backup of your style scores, your account, and any feedback you send, in Canada. RevenueCat keeps track of subscriptions. Apple and Google handle downloads, sign-in, and payments. They're all required to protect your information. |
Legal version Feedback The App includes a Share feedback option that lets you tell us about anything in the App, including a kit piece you found hurtful, inappropriate, or wrong. Sending feedback is always optional and happens only at your direction. Feedback may include an optional topic you select (such as "Too harsh" or "An idea"), an optional message you write, and an optional email address if you would like a reply. We ask that you not include names or other personal details in your message. If you do, they are stored as written. If you choose to indicate that your feedback is about the kit you most recently received, the App also includes that kit's voice setting and its broad situation type (for example, "work"). The App shows you what will be included before you send it. The text of the kit and Your Words are never included in feedback. To operate the feature and prevent abuse, each submission also includes the App version, device model, operating system version, and a random identifier generated on your device. This identifier is used only to limit the number of submissions from one device. It is not your account identifier and is not linked to your account, email address, or Preference Totals. Feedback is not linked to your account. It is stored separately from preference data, accessible only to personnel designated by Larian, and used solely to respond to you and to review and improve the App. Feedback is retained only as long as needed for these purposes, then deleted. Any reply email address is used only to respond to you. Where feedback about a kit is used to improve the App's safety testing, it is first rewritten as an invented example. | Plain language When You Send Feedback Tap Share feedback at the bottom of the main screen to tell us anything: something that broke, an idea, a kit piece that felt hurtful or just wrong, or that you love it. It's always optional. You can pick a topic, write a note, and add your email if you'd like a reply. Please leave out names and personal details. If you include them, we'll see them. If your note is about the kit you just got, you can tick a box to include its style (like Snarky) and the general type of situation (like Work). You'll see exactly what's included before you send. Never the kit itself, and never what you typed. Each note also carries a few basic details: your app version, what kind of phone you have, and a random ID made on your phone. That ID is only there to stop spam. It isn't your account, and without an email, we have no idea who sent it. We read feedback to make the app better and to reply if you asked us to. We keep it only as long as we need it for that, then delete it. |
Legal version Security Measures We use industry-standard safeguards appropriate to the sensitivity of the information, including encryption of data in transit, encryption of stored data at rest with keys managed separately from the database, storage of preference data under random identifiers separate from account information, and access controls limiting access to personnel who need it to operate the App. Our data-minimization design provides additional protection: Your Words cannot be exposed in a breach of our systems because we do not retain them. No method of transmission or storage is completely secure. While we use commercially reasonable means to protect information, we cannot guarantee absolute security. If a breach of security safeguards creates a real risk of significant harm, we will notify affected users and regulators as required by law. | Plain language How We Keep Your Information Safe The little we do keep is encrypted, both while it travels and while it's stored. Your style scores are filed under a random ID, kept apart from your email, so one can't easily be matched to the other. The real security advantage is simple: the most personal thing you share with us, what actually happened, can't be stolen from us because we don't have it. You can't leak what you don't keep. No system is perfect. If something ever went wrong in a way that could hurt you, we would tell you, as the law requires. |
Legal version Retention Periods Your Words: Not retained by Larian beyond the processing of the request. Retention by our AI provider is described in Section 4. Preference Totals and Settings: Retained on your device until you reset them or delete the App, and on our servers until you reset them or delete your account or identifier. Usage Count and Subscription Information: Retained while needed to provide the App and apply the free-use limit, and as required for legal, tax, and accounting purposes. Account Information: Retained until you delete your account. Account deletion is available within the App's settings. Deleted data is removed from our active systems within thirty (30) days, and from backups on their normal cycle. Feedback: Retained only as long as needed to review it, respond to you, and improve the App, then deleted. Support Correspondence: Retained as long as needed to resolve your request, then deleted. | Plain language How Long We Keep Things What you type: We don't keep it at all. (OpenAI may keep it up to 30 days, as explained in Section 4.) Your style scores and settings: Until you reset them or delete your account. You can do both right in the app. Your email, if you signed up: Until you delete your account. Delete your account in settings and it's gone within 30 days. Feedback: Kept as long as we need it to fix things and reply to you, then deleted. Support emails: Kept until we've sorted things out for you. Subscription records: Kept as long as the law requires for business records. |
Legal version User Rights Under Applicable Law Depending on where you live, including under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), Quebec's privacy law, U.S. state privacy laws, and the GDPR in the European Economic Area and United Kingdom, you may have the right to: • Access the personal information we hold about you; • Correct inaccurate information; • Delete your information, including directly through the App's account deletion and preference reset features; • Receive your information in a portable format; • Withdraw consent to processing, subject to legal or contractual restrictions, understanding that the App may not function without the information described in Section 2; • Opt out of the sale or sharing of personal information. We do not sell or share personal information for advertising; and • Lodge a complaint with a privacy regulator, including the Office of the Privacy Commissioner of Canada. To exercise these rights, contact us using the information in Section 12. We will respond to verified requests within the timeframes required by applicable law, and within thirty (30) days in most cases. | Plain language What You Can Do You're in charge of your information. At any time you can: See it: Ask us what we have. It's your style scores, your settings, and your email if you signed up. That's the whole list. Fix it: If something looks wrong, tell us and we'll correct it. Delete it: Reset your style scores or delete your account right in the app, or ask us and we'll do it. Take it with you: Ask for a copy in a format you can use elsewhere. Complain: If you're not happy with how we've handled your information, you can contact us, or the privacy regulator where you live. In Canada, that's the Office of the Privacy Commissioner. We don't sell your data. There's no "opt out of data sales" button because there are no sales to opt out of. |
Legal version Users Under 18 The App is intended only for users aged eighteen (18) or older and is not directed at minors. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 18. If we learn that we have collected information from a person under 18, we will delete it promptly. If you believe a minor is using the App, please contact us. | Plain language For Adults Only Okay*ish is for people 18 and older. If we find out someone under 18 has been using it, we'll delete their information. If you think a young person is using the app, let us know. |
Legal version International Transfers Larian is located in Canada. Account, preference backup, usage, and feedback data is hosted in Canada. Some service providers, including our AI provider and subscription provider, process information in the United States. Information processed outside your jurisdiction may be accessible to the courts, law enforcement, and national security authorities of that jurisdiction. Where required, we rely on appropriate legal mechanisms, such as contractual protections, for these transfers. | Plain language Where Your Information Lives Okay*ish is a Canadian company. The backup of your style scores, your account, and any feedback you send are stored in Canada. OpenAI (which writes your kit) and RevenueCat (which tracks subscriptions) are in the United States, so some information passes through there. That means U.S. law applies to it while it's there. |
Legal version Policy Modifications We may update this Privacy Policy to reflect changes in our practices, technology, or legal requirements. We will notify users of material changes through in-app notification or by email (if an account email is on file) at least thirty (30) days before they take effect, and will obtain your consent where required by law. The "Last Updated" date above shows when this policy was last revised. | Plain language If We Update This Policy If we make a meaningful change to how we handle your information, we'll tell you at least 30 days ahead, in the app or by email. Our core commitment won't change: what you type is used to write your kit, then it's gone from Okay*ish. |
Legal version Contact Information Larian Group Inc. is responsible for personal information under its control and has designated a Privacy Officer accountable for compliance with this policy. For questions, requests, or concerns, contact: Privacy Officer Larian Group Inc. (operating Okay*ish) Email: privacy@okayish.app We aim to respond to all inquiries within thirty (30) days. | Plain language Get in Touch Questions? Worries? Want to see or delete your information? Email us at: privacy@okayish.app We'll get back to you within 30 days, and usually much sooner. |
Okay*ish
Each section has a legal version and a plain-language version. Both say the same thing. If they ever seem to differ, the legal version is the one that applies.
Legal version Agreement to Terms These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") form a legally binding agreement between you ("you" or "User") and Larian Group Inc., a corporation based in Ontario, Canada ("Larian," "we," "us," or "our"), which operates the Okay*ish mobile application and related services (the "App"). By downloading, installing, accessing, or using the App, you agree to be bound by these Terms and by our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, you must not use the App. We may modify these Terms from time to time. Material changes will be communicated through in-app notification or by email (if an account email is on file) at least thirty (30) days before they take effect. Your continued use of the App after the effective date of a modification constitutes acceptance of the revised Terms. | Plain language The Basics By using Okay*ish, you're agreeing to these terms. Okay*ish is run by Larian Group Inc., a small company in Ontario, Canada. That's the "we" in this document. If you don't agree, that's completely fine, but please don't use the app. If we ever make a big change to these terms, we'll give you at least 30 days' notice before it kicks in. No surprises. We know nobody reads terms for fun. That's why this plain-language version sits right next to the legal one, so you can actually understand what you're agreeing to. |
Legal version Age and Capacity Requirements You must be at least eighteen (18) years of age to use the App. The App is not intended for, and may not be used by, anyone under 18. By using the App, you represent and warrant that you are at least 18 years old and legally capable of entering into a binding agreement. We may terminate access where we reasonably believe these eligibility requirements are not met. | Plain language Who Can Use Okay*ish You need to be 18 or older to use Okay*ish. By using the app, you're telling us you are. If we find out otherwise, we may need to close the account. |
Legal version Service Overview The App uses artificial intelligence to generate comedic reframes of everyday situations you describe. For everyday moments, the App provides a "kit" consisting of a short reframe, a one-liner, and a song suggestion. For situations the App classifies as heavy, it provides a gentler response. For situations it classifies as a possible crisis, it provides crisis resources instead of a comedic response. The App is intended for general wellbeing and lighthearted perspective only. It uses a third-party AI service provider to process your input and generate responses, and maintains preference totals to tailor its style to you over time, as described in our Privacy Policy. Creating an account is optional. Some features, such as keeping your preferences when you change devices, may require an account. We may add, change, or remove features at any time. We will provide reasonable notice of material changes to core functionality. | Plain language What Okay*ish Does You tell Okay*ish what happened, in your own words. It gives you back a kit: a funny new way to look at the moment, a one-liner you can text a friend, and a song that fits. If what you share is heavy, like grief or a loss, you get something gentler instead of jokes. If it sounds like you might be in danger, you get crisis support info instead. The app uses AI to write your kit, and it learns what makes you laugh over time. (Our Privacy Policy explains how, and what we do and don't keep.) You don't need an account to use it. An account just lets your preferences follow you to a new phone. We'll keep adding and improving things. If anything major changes, we'll let you know. |
Legal version Voice and Boldness Settings The App lets you choose a voice setting (such as Friendly, Snarky, or Unfiltered) and a boldness level. Some settings may produce sharper comedy, mature themes, and profanity. You choose these settings and are responsible for selecting a setting suitable for you. Regardless of setting, the App is designed so that its comedy targets the situation and not you. Comedy about other people involved in your situation is generated for your private use only. You agree not to use the App or its output to harass, threaten, defame, or target any person. | Plain language Choosing How Bold It Gets You can pick how Okay*ish talks to you, from Friendly to Snarky to Unfiltered, and how bold it gets. The bolder settings can swear and get spicier. Whatever you pick, the joke is never on you. If the app roasts the driver who cut you off, that's for you to enjoy privately, not to send to them or post about them. |
Legal version Free and Paid Access (a) Free Uses: New users may use the App for a limited number of free uses, currently ten (10) in total. Free uses do not reset or renew. We may take reasonable measures to prevent the free-use limit from being circumvented, and may change the number of free uses for new users with reasonable notice. (b) Paid Subscription: After your free uses are used, continued use of the App requires a paid subscription. Subscription options, prices, and billing periods are shown in the App before purchase. (c) Billing and Automatic Renewal: Subscriptions are purchased and billed through the Apple App Store or Google Play (each an "App Store"). Payment is charged to your App Store account at confirmation of purchase. Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period at the then-current price unless cancelled at least twenty-four (24) hours before the end of the current period. You can manage or cancel your subscription in your App Store account settings. Deleting the App does not cancel a subscription. (d) Refunds: Except as required by applicable law, fees are non-refundable. Refunds for App Store purchases are handled by the App Store under its own refund policy. (e) Price Changes: We may change subscription prices. Price changes are communicated and applied in accordance with App Store rules, and you will have the opportunity to cancel before a price increase applies to you. | Plain language Free vs. Paid Everyone gets 10 free uses to try Okay*ish. No credit card needed. Those 10 don't reset, so once they're used, they're used. After that, you'll need a subscription to keep going. You'll see the options and prices in the app before you buy anything. Your subscription is handled by Apple or Google, and it renews automatically unless you cancel at least a day before it renews. You cancel in your Apple or Google account settings. Heads up: deleting the app doesn't cancel your subscription. Refunds go through Apple or Google, under their rules. If prices ever go up, you'll be told ahead of time and can cancel before the new price applies to you. |
Legal version Third-Party App Store Provisions If you obtain the App through an App Store, you acknowledge and agree that: (a) These Terms are between you and Larian only, not the App Store provider. Larian, not the App Store provider, is solely responsible for the App and its content. (b) Your license to use the App is limited to a non-transferable license to use it on devices you own or control, as permitted by the App Store's usage rules. (c) The App Store provider has no obligation to provide maintenance or support for the App. (d) In the event of any failure of the App to conform to an applicable warranty, you may notify the App Store provider, which may refund the purchase price (if any). To the maximum extent permitted by law, the App Store provider has no other warranty obligation with respect to the App. (e) Larian, not the App Store provider, is responsible for addressing any claims relating to the App, including product liability claims, claims that the App fails to conform to legal or regulatory requirements, consumer protection claims, and claims that the App infringes a third party's intellectual property rights. (f) You represent that you are not located in a country subject to a U.S. government embargo and are not on any U.S. government list of prohibited or restricted parties. (g) You must comply with applicable third-party terms when using the App. (h) The App Store provider and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these Terms and may enforce them against you. | Plain language Getting the App From Apple or Google If you download Okay*ish from the Apple App Store or Google Play, a few extra rules apply. These are standard, and Apple and Google require them. Your deal is with us, not with Apple or Google. We're the ones responsible for the app, for supporting it, and for dealing with any problems or complaints about it. Apple's and Google's own rules also apply when you use their stores. If you need a refund for something you bought through their store, that goes through them. |
Legal version Disclaimer of Professional Services THE APP IS NOT A MEDICAL DEVICE, THERAPEUTIC TOOL, OR MENTAL HEALTH SERVICE. Nothing provided by the App constitutes medical advice, psychological counselling, psychiatric treatment, crisis intervention, or any other form of professional healthcare. Use of the App does not create a therapist-patient, counsellor-client, or other professional relationship between you and Larian or any of its affiliates, employees, or service providers. Content generated by the App is AI-produced and intended for general wellbeing and lighthearted perspective. It is not a substitute for professional medical or mental health advice, diagnosis, or treatment. Always seek the advice of a qualified healthcare provider with any questions about a medical or mental health condition. The App's crisis detection is automated and may not identify every situation in which you need help. IF YOU ARE EXPERIENCING A MENTAL HEALTH CRISIS, THOUGHTS OF SUICIDE OR SELF-HARM, OR A MEDICAL EMERGENCY, CALL 911, CALL OR TEXT 988 (THE SUICIDE CRISIS HELPLINE IN CANADA AND THE SUICIDE AND CRISIS LIFELINE IN THE UNITED STATES), CONTACT YOUR LOCAL EMERGENCY SERVICES IF YOU ARE ELSEWHERE, OR GO TO THE NEAREST EMERGENCY ROOM. DO NOT RELY ON THE APP FOR CRISIS SUPPORT. If you have an existing mental health condition, consider consulting your healthcare provider before using the App. | Plain language This Is Not Therapy This one matters, so we want to be really clear: Okay*ish isn't a therapist, counsellor, doctor, or any kind of healthcare provider. It's a tool for finding the funny side of a hard moment. Your kit is written by AI, not a licensed professional. It's meant to give you a little space from the feeling, not clinical guidance, and it's not a replacement for real mental health support. If you're in crisis or thinking about hurting yourself, please reach out to a real person right away: call 911, call or text 988 in Canada or the US, or go to your nearest emergency room. The app tries to notice when someone needs that kind of help, but it can miss things, so please don't count on it in those moments. If you have a mental health condition, it's a good idea to check with your healthcare provider before using the app. |
Legal version Nature and Limitations of AI Output All reframes, one-liners, song suggestions, and other content generated by the App ("AI Content") are produced by artificial intelligence systems operated by our third-party provider. You acknowledge and agree that: • AI Content is generated automatically and may be inaccurate, inappropriate, unhelpful, or not to your taste. We do not guarantee the quality, suitability, or effectiveness of any AI Content. • AI Content is not reviewed by a person before delivery. We use automated safety checks designed to reduce harmful or inappropriate output, but we do not warrant that they will be effective in every case. • Song suggestions are provided as text only. We do not provide, license, or link to the music, and do not guarantee a suggested song's availability, content, or suitability. • AI Content is not factual information, professional advice, or instruction of any kind. You are solely responsible for how you interpret, use, or act on it. Feedback: If any piece of AI Content seems hurtful, inappropriate, or wrong, you may tell us using the Share feedback option in the App. Feedback is handled as described in our Privacy Policy. | Plain language About Your AI-Written Kit Your kit is written by AI. Most of the time it lands. Sometimes it won't, and occasionally it might get something wrong. No person reads your kit before you do. We've built in checks to catch anything mean or inappropriate, but no system is perfect. Song suggestions are just a title and an artist. We don't play the song or link to it, and we can't promise how every song suits you. Your kit is meant to make you smile or see things differently. It isn't fact, advice, or instructions. What you do with it is up to you. If a piece ever feels hurtful or wrong, tap Share feedback at the bottom of the main screen and tell us. Our Privacy Policy explains exactly what gets sent. |
Legal version Acceptable Use Policy You agree to use the App only for its intended purpose and in compliance with all applicable laws. You agree not to: • Submit or attempt to generate content that is unlawful, hateful, sexually explicit, threatening, harassing, or defamatory, or that targets any person; • Use the App or AI Content to harass, intimidate, or harm any person; • Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to derive the source code, prompts, or underlying systems of the App; • Use bots, scripts, or other automated means to access the App; • Circumvent any content filter, safety measure, usage limit, or access control; • Interfere with, overburden, or impair the App or its infrastructure; or • Sell, sublicense, or commercially exploit AI Content without our prior written consent. We recommend that you not include unnecessary identifying details about yourself or others, such as full names, addresses, or contact information, in what you type. We may suspend or terminate access if we reasonably believe you have violated these Terms. | Plain language Playing Fair Use Okay*ish the way it's meant to be used: tell it what happened, get your kit, get on with your day. Please don't try to break it, hack it, flood it with bots, or get around its safety checks or free-use limit. And don't use it to create hateful or explicit content, or to go after anyone. A tip: the app doesn't need real names or addresses to help you. "My coworker" works just as well as a full name. Your kits are for your own use. Please don't sell them or use them commercially without asking us first. If someone breaks these rules, we may need to suspend or close their access. We'd rather not, but we will if we have to. |
Legal version Ownership and Rights App Ownership: The App, including its design, code, prompts, algorithms, artwork, mascot, branding, and all associated intellectual property, is owned by Larian and protected by applicable intellectual property laws. Subject to these Terms, we grant you a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable, revocable license to use the App for personal, non-commercial purposes. AI Content: AI Content is provided for your personal, non-commercial use. Given the nature of AI-generated content, we make no representations about its copyrightability. You may share AI Content personally, for example with friends. Your Input: You retain all rights to what you type into the App. As described in our Privacy Policy, we do not store it or claim any rights to it. Feedback: If you provide feedback or suggestions, you grant us a non-exclusive, royalty-free, perpetual, irrevocable license to use them for any purpose, including improving the App. Trademarks: "Okay*ish," the Okay*ish logo, the llama mascot, and related marks are trademarks of Larian. You may not use them without our prior written permission. | Plain language Who Owns What The app itself, including the design, the code, and the llama, belongs to us. You're welcome to use it for your own personal use. Your kits are for you. Copyright law for AI-written content is still being worked out, and we're not going to pretend otherwise. Screenshot them, share them with friends. Just don't package them up and sell them. What you type is yours. Always. We don't keep it, so there's nothing for us to claim. If you send us an idea or feedback, we might use it to make the app better. By sending it, you're saying that's okay. |
Legal version Account Responsibilities Account creation is optional. If you create an account, you are responsible for maintaining the security of your sign-in method and for all activity under your account, and you agree to provide accurate information. You must notify us promptly of any unauthorized use of your account. We may suspend or terminate accounts we reasonably believe have been compromised or used in violation of these Terms. You may delete your account at any time from within the App's settings. | Plain language Your Account You don't need an account, but if you make one, keep your login safe. You're responsible for what happens on it. If you think someone else has gotten into your account, let us know right away and we'll help sort it out. You can delete your account anytime, right in the app's settings. |
Legal version Processing and Storage of Information Our Privacy Policy, which forms part of these Terms, describes what information we collect and how we use, disclose, and protect it. By using the App, you acknowledge that information may be processed in Canada and in the United States, including by our AI service provider and subscription provider, as described in the Privacy Policy. Data protection laws in those countries may differ from those where you live. We take commercially reasonable measures to comply with applicable data protection laws. | Plain language Where Your Data Lives Our Privacy Policy has the full details. The short version: what you type is used to write your kit, then it's gone from Okay*ish. What we keep is a set of numbers about what makes you laugh, stored on your phone with a backup in Canada. Some of the companies that help run the app, like the AI that writes your kit, are in the United States, so some information passes through there. |
Legal version External Resources The App may display or link to third-party resources, including crisis lines and mental health resources. These are provided for your convenience. We do not control, endorse, or assume responsibility for their content, privacy practices, or availability, and your use of them is subject to their own terms. | Plain language Links to Other Places The app may point you to outside resources, like crisis lines. We include them because they're helpful, but we don't run them. Once you leave the app, their rules apply, not ours. |
Legal version Availability We aim to provide reliable access to the App but do not guarantee it will be available at all times. The App may be unavailable due to maintenance, updates, outages of our service providers, or circumstances beyond our control. We will make reasonable efforts to give advance notice of planned maintenance and to restore service promptly. To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for any loss arising from the App being temporarily unavailable. | Plain language When the App Might Be Down We do our best to keep Okay*ish running, but no app is up 100% of the time. Updates, maintenance, or problems with the companies we rely on can cause the odd outage. If we're planning downtime, we'll try to give you a heads-up. If something breaks, we'll get it back up as fast as we can. |
Legal version Liability Limitations TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, LARIAN AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AGENTS, AND AFFILIATES SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF PROFITS, DATA, USE, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF OR INABILITY TO USE THE APP. TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, OUR TOTAL LIABILITY FOR ALL CLAIMS ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO THESE TERMS OR THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE GREATER OF THE AMOUNT YOU PAID FOR THE APP IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM OR FIFTY CANADIAN DOLLARS (CAD $50). THESE LIMITATIONS APPLY REGARDLESS OF THE THEORY OF LIABILITY AND EVEN IF WE HAVE BEEN ADVISED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGES. Nothing in these Terms limits or excludes any liability or any right you have that cannot be limited or excluded under applicable law, including consumer protection law in your province, state, or country. | Plain language Our Liability We work hard to make Okay*ish helpful and reliable. But things can go wrong with any app, and we need to be upfront about what we can and can't be responsible for. We're not on the hook for indirect knock-on effects, like lost profits. The most we'd owe is what you've paid us in the past 12 months, or $50 (Canadian), whichever is more. This is standard for apps and helps keep a small company like ours going. It doesn't mean we don't care. If the law where you live gives you rights that can't be limited this way, you keep those rights. |
Legal version Warranty Disclaimer TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, THE APP IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE," WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING IMPLIED WARRANTIES OR CONDITIONS OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT. WE DO NOT WARRANT THAT THE APP WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR SECURE, THAT AI CONTENT WILL BE ACCURATE, APPROPRIATE, OR HELPFUL, THAT CRISIS DETECTION WILL IDENTIFY EVERY SITUATION REQUIRING HELP, OR THAT PERSONALIZATION WILL ACCURATELY REFLECT YOUR PREFERENCES. Some jurisdictions do not allow the exclusion of certain warranties or conditions, so some of these exclusions may not apply to you. | Plain language No Guarantees We can't promise Okay*ish will be perfect. There might be bugs, downtime, or kits that completely miss. We also can't promise the app will figure out what makes you laugh right away. It gets better over time, but it's not magic. It's math. And as we said above, the app can miss signs that someone needs real help. That's why it should never be your only support. |
Legal version Your Indemnification Obligations To the extent permitted by applicable law, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Larian and its officers, directors, employees, agents, and affiliates from claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising out of your violation of these Terms, your violation of any law, or your use of the App or AI Content to harm any third party. This obligation survives termination of these Terms. | Plain language Covering Our Bases If you break these rules or the law, or use the app to hurt someone, and we get pulled into a legal problem because of it, you agree to cover the costs. This is a standard clause in nearly every app's terms. |
Legal version Governing Law and Dispute Resolution Governing Law: These Terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario, without regard to conflict of law principles. Informal Resolution: Before starting any formal proceeding, you agree to contact us and try in good faith to resolve the dispute informally for at least thirty (30) days. Courts: Subject to the informal resolution step, any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the App shall be resolved by the courts of Ontario, and you and we submit to their jurisdiction. Either party may bring a claim in small claims court where eligible. Consumer Rights: Nothing in these Terms limits any right you may have under the consumer protection laws of your place of residence, including any right to bring a claim in the courts where you live or to participate in a class proceeding. | Plain language If We Disagree If there's ever a problem between us, the first step is to talk. Contact us, and we'll both try to sort it out for at least 30 days before anything formal happens. If that doesn't work, Ontario law applies and disputes go to the Ontario courts (or small claims court, if your claim qualifies). Consumer protection laws where you live still apply. These terms can't take those rights away. |
Legal version Termination Rights You may stop using the App at any time by deleting it and, if applicable, deleting your account in the App's settings. Deleting the App or your account does not cancel an App Store subscription, which must be cancelled through your App Store account. We may suspend or terminate your access to the App if you violate these Terms, if your conduct is harmful to others or to us, or if we discontinue the App. Where we discontinue the App, we will provide reasonable notice where feasible. On termination, your right to use the App ends. Sections 10, 15, 16, 17, and 18, and any other provisions that by their nature should survive, continue to apply. Data deletion following account deletion is handled as described in our Privacy Policy. | Plain language Leaving Okay*ish You can stop anytime. Delete the app, and delete your account in settings if you made one. No hard feelings. Remember: if you subscribed, cancel in your Apple or Google settings too. Deleting the app doesn't do that for you. We can also end access if someone's misusing the app, or if we ever shut it down. If we shut down, we'll try to give you notice. When you delete your account, your information is deleted within 30 days. |
Legal version Miscellaneous Entire Agreement: These Terms and our Privacy Policy are the entire agreement between you and Larian regarding the App and supersede any prior agreements. Severability: If any provision is found unenforceable, it will be modified to the minimum extent necessary, and the remaining provisions will continue in full force. Waiver: Our failure to enforce a provision is not a waiver of it. Assignment: You may not assign your rights under these Terms without our consent. We may assign our rights and obligations, including in connection with a merger, acquisition, or sale of assets. Force Majeure: We are not liable for any failure or delay caused by circumstances beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, government action, pandemics, internet or power failures, or failures of third-party service providers. Electronic Communications: You consent to receive communications from us electronically, including in-app notices and email, and agree these satisfy any requirement that communications be in writing. Language: These Terms are written in English. If a translated version is provided, the English version governs to the extent permitted by law. | Plain language The Fine Print These terms plus our Privacy Policy are the whole deal between us. If a court decides one part doesn't hold up, the rest still applies. If we don't enforce a rule once, that doesn't mean we've given up on it. You can't transfer your account to someone else. If our company ever changes hands, these terms go with it. If something truly beyond our control happens, like a natural disaster or a major internet outage, we're not responsible for the disruption. We'll send you notices in the app or by email rather than by mail. |
Legal version Contact Information If you have questions about these Terms, please contact: Larian Group Inc. (operating Okay*ish) Email: legal@okayish.app We aim to respond to all inquiries within thirty (30) days. | Plain language Get in Touch Questions about these terms? Email us at: legal@okayish.app We'll get back to you within 30 days, and usually much sooner. |
